12 years with my rescue kitty Mickey

This is Mickey my bossy and temperamental 15 year old cat. We adopted him when he was 3 years old from cat protection and he was so shy and timid. From what i was informed from cats protection he was rescued after being mistreated by his owner. Fast forward 12 years and he is now overly confident and rules the roost aswell as ruling half the street. He has his own territory (that he marked out) that he surveys at least 4 times a day. And he has this ability (i like to think its a super power!)  to sense when another cat puts a paw in it. He can go from being fast asleep to doing a runner out the cat flap in 2 seconds. Last week he had trip to the vets to have his teeth removed (due to old age and catching too many birds) and for 3 days after he sulked and refused to even look at me so it was obvious he was holding a grudge. He has now decided to get pay back by waking me up at 4am for the last 4 days demanding food and how does he wake me up? By literally licking my ear..... yep you heard me right. And do i give in? yes! just so i can get some sleep. But although he has has his days where he can be grumpy (i mean who doesn't?) , he is still a very loving cat, who loves cuddles (on his own terms) and loves being fussed. From the first day he put his paw in our house i honseslty think he was just relieved to be somewhere safe and soemwhere he is treated lovingly. He has fully cemented his paw print on our families heart and we cant ever imagine him not being here.

    Dr. Oetker Ristorante review

I am a huge pizza lover but usually tend to avoid frozen pizza's. So when i was invited to review a pizza from the Dr. Oetker Ristorante range i was very intrigued and the first thought that popped into my head was, will it taste as good as a fresh pizza. Well i can tell you all that i am now a frozen pizza convert! The packaging was inviting and well presented and displayed a picture of the pizza which looked so yummy!   I tried the Ristorante Pizza Pollo and it was bursting with flavour!

The smell that was coming from the oven whilst the pizza was cooking was so enticing! The pizza toppings included slices of marinated chicken breast and a mix of spinach, tomatoes, sweetcorn, mozzarella and Edam cheese. The toppings were very generous and tasted amazing. The base cooked beautifully and was lovely and crispy and as soon as i pulled it out of the oven everyone wanted a piece. Dr. Oetker Ristoranteis now my go to pizza! And dont forget if you pick up a promotional pack you can get a free pizza!

    Taste 10/10
    Product and packaging 10/10

    Teisseire Grenadine Review

Wow this drink is full of flavour and almost feels as if fruits are bursting in your mouth when drinking it. You also get a slight taste of yummy vanilla that complements the berries perfectly. Its a perfect drink for sharing with family and friends and thats exactly what we did and everyone loved it! The Teisseire Grenadine comes in a very attractive 600ml metal bottle, which looks very sleek and stylish and fits easily in the fridge. One bottle makes 5 litres of the Grenadine fruit drinkand it lasted us just over a week. With 0% sugar this drink just proves that flavours can speak for themselves and you  dont need spoonfulls of sugar to have a tasty refreshing drink. The grenadine is alcohol free so is very versatile and we used it to make yummy milkshakes aswell. The  average price for a bottle is £3.49 and we have definetly added it to our weekly shopping list.

This yummy refreshing drink gets a 10/10 from me and has inspired me to try some other Teisseire flavours. To see the full range of flavours on offer click Here

    St Tropez Self Tan Review

I got the chance to try out St Tropez self tan and i must say i am impressed. The body polish you apply 24 hours before the self tan so it prepares your skin. And just before applying the self tan it is recommended you apply the Tan Enhancing moisturiser to any dry areas of skin to reduce tan break up and fading. This is my first ever time using self tanning products and i can now say i am addicted! The Body polish and Moisturiser left my skin feeling silky smooth and the self tan wasn't too dark and gave my skin a natural looking glow. I have received many compliments about my tan and have recommend St Tropez to friends. A definite winner.

My verdict: On a score of between 1 and 10 i would definitely vote this a 9. This is an excellent product and has many different shades to suit all skin tones.

My obsession with Border Biscuits + Review

Anyone that know me, knows I'm obsessed with Border Biscuits especially the light and chocoaltey Viennese. Whenever anyone asks me what i want for my birthday, mothers day or Christmas i always say Border Biscuits. Although i have had to start finding better hiding places recently as my partner always manages to find them and gobbles them while I'm at work! They are a lovely treat to have with a cuppa tea after a long day at work. And i always have a spare pack in the cupboard incase any guests pop in and any of my guests that have tried Border Biscuits have left my house almost as obsessed with them a i am. The packaging is just so inviting and done very well to a high standard. The biscuits are well presented and look incredibly yummy and enticing. I eat so many that i thought its about time that i reviewed them on my blog. I love all of Border biscuits but today i am reviewing the Light & Chocolatey Vinnese and the Lemon Drizzle Day.

    Light & Chocolatey Viennese

As i said previously these are my ultimate favourite the flavour of the biscuit is buttery and taste's like heaven and the addition of chocolate just makes it even yummier! The biscuit is soft and delicate with the right amount of crumble and is a welcome treat with a cuppa tea.

    Rating- 10/10

    Lemon Drizzle Day

Lemon Drizzle Day biscuits are so light and delicious and the lemon flavour comes though beautifully. The smell when you open the packet is amazing and when you taste them they just melt in your mouth.

    Teapigs everyday brew Review

I really cant believe iv'e only just discovered teapigs! Like many other people a cup of tea ( or two or three!)  is essential to my day and trust me when i say i am a Tea fanatic! My partner recently bought me a box of Teapigs everyday brew and i can now say i will be using them everyday from now on. The everyday brew comes in lovely well presented and labelled box and you can see the quality of the tea without even opening the box. The everyday brew is a rich full bodied tea and is very refreshng and tastes divine. Just pop the bag in the cup and pour hot water over and leave to brew for 3 minutes for the flavours to develop and wham you've got yourself the best tatsing cuppa ever.

    Ive been baking!

Baking is something im obsessed with at the moment! And although my baking skills are not always be perfect, i thought i would share what ive been busy baking.

I love citrus fruit so making this citrus tart was a must! so yummy and tangy! Here is the recipe below:

    For the pastry

    • 50g butter, cut in pieces
    • 140g plain flour
    • 1 tbsp icing sugar
    • 1 tbsp extra virgin rapeseed oil
    • 1 medium egg yolk

    For the filling

    • 3 medium eggs, plus 2 medium egg whites
    • 140g icing sugar, plus extra for dusting
    • 2 tbsp finely grated lemon zest (about 4 lemons)
    • 125ml lemon juice (from 4-5 lemons)
    • 200ml tub half-fat crème fraîche

    1. Rub the butter into the flour until the mix looks like fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the icing sugar, then make a well and use a round-bladed knife to stir in the oil, egg yolk and 1½-2 tbsp cold water until dough comes together. Without overhandling, gather into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, roll out so it fits a 23 x 2cm loose-bottom flan tin. Ease the pastry into the tin, then trim the edges by rolling the rolling pin over the top. Press the pastry into the flutes so it sits very slightly proud of the edge (this extra height helps in case of any shrinkage). Lightly prick the pastry base with a fork, then chill for about 10 mins. Heat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5.
    2. Meanwhile, make the filling. Beat the eggs and egg whites together with a wooden spoon until well mixed. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl, then gradually beat in the eggs. If the mix is at all lumpy, simply beat with a wire whisk. Stir in the lemon zest and the juice. Leave to stand so the lemon flavour can develop.
    3. Sit the chilled pastry case on a baking sheet. Line with baking parchment and baking beans and bake blind for 20 mins until well set. Carefully lift out the beans and paper, then bake the pastry case for another 3-5 mins until the base is cooked and pale golden.
    4. Strain the lemon mixture through a sieve. Beat the crème fraîche in a medium bowl until smooth, then slowly stir in the lemon mix until well blended. Transfer to a jug, then carefully pour two thirds into the warm pastry case. Place in the oven with the oven shelf half out, pour in the rest of the filling, then carefully slide the shelf back in. Reduce the heat to 150C/130C fan/gas 2. Bake for 25-30 mins until barely set with a slight wobble in the middle. Cool for about 1 hr, then serve with a light dusting of icing sugar. Best eaten the same day.

    kitty cat

This is my cat Mickey we have had him 10 years now (he is 14 years old)  and its flown by. He was a rescue cat when we had him. He was very scared at first but soon came out of his shell and as you can see he loves posing for the camera. He has been a little ill lately with cat flu and has had lots of antibiotics to help make him better. He has been loving the extra cuddles and fussing though and he must be getting better because today he tried to his head in the cat treat box.  He loves Whiskas Katzinis and the Webbox cats delight lick-e-lix.He also loves Hilife cat food especially the tuna with prawns flavour.
